KANEDA & TETSUO
The concept behind this artwork is heavily inspired by the story of the animation film released in 1988, Akira. The artwork has 3 different A4 artworks each connecting to each other and showing different timelines, not necessarily in order, of the relationship between Kaneda and Tetsuo. Childhood friends faced with unexpected circumstances that tear apart not only their relationship but the entire city of Tokyo. Tetsuo being noticeably weaker than Kaneda, felt that he didn’t want to be saved by Kaneda anymore and starts being more reckless. It was because of his recklessness he was taken in by Military after a motorbike accident. It was then revealed that Tetsuo possess the psychic powers on an identical but opposite wavelength of the once known Akira who blew Tokyo to pieces making it the Neo-Tokyo today. Tetsuo gets full of himself once he processed the power he possesses, leaving Kaneda in the position of trying to save his best friend from self destruction and disintegration of Tokyo but unfortunately history repeats itself.
